Independent - He doesn't trust many people and so finds it easier to be alone because then he doesn't have to worry about people finding out all his secrets, or have to worry about the other people or have them worry about him. The only people Alec has ever felt close to were his father and his grandfather. Even though Arcturus's father was always away, when he was home they got on very well and his grandfather (his fathers father) stood in as a father figure to him and they were closer than any two people could ever be.
Immiterial - Arcturus very much dislikes modern society because he thinks everyone is to preoccupied by all the material things in life and looking good in front of their friends and they forget the important things in life.
Love - Alec doesn't think it's cool to sleep around as other boys his age might, although he personally does not believe in love for himself because he believes he is a monster.
Lonely - Although Arcturus is very set in his ways when it comes to his independence, deep down he often feels lonely and regrets his isolation and misses his family. Because of this feeling of loneliness Arcturus can often be flirtatious and enjoys dating but never goes further than an innocent kiss because he does not want to mislead girls or boys for that matter into thinking he wants a real relationship.

Thin face, high cheak bones, hard looking.

Around 6'4" in hight, tall, slightly muscular from running in his legs but not extensivly.

Alec could be described as a bit of a skater but he doesn't like to label. He tends to dress in knee length shorts even in the British cold winters, but he doesn't tend to feel the cold. Alec could also be found in skinny jeans and the first shirt or tee shirt he can put his hands on. He hates his school robes he feels out of place in them as he is muggle born.
( SUMMARY ) :
Arcturus is not out of the ordinary in appearence, he is average hight for his age although he is on the skinny side due to the constant running and other sport, though this does mean he has muscle in his legs. Alecs blue eyes have a certian glimmer when he finds out something new for example when he reads in class. His chocolate brown hair is slightly messy but straight and styled.

FATHER: Rivea Leo Nightingale, 42 at time of death, was a Navy Captain.
MOTHER: Amy Melody Nightingale (Nee Pond), age 46, was a stay-at-home-mum until the death of her husband then she began working in a shop part-time.

Lysander Pond, male, 15, muggle, school student.

GRANDFATHER: Leo Orion Nightingale, Wizard, Married a muggle and was disowned by his magical parents, had one child Arcturus's father who was a muggle/squib though never knew his father was a wizard
( HISTORY ) :
Arcurus Leo Pond had a pretty average upbringing in his younger years. He lived with his mother, younger brother, and younger sister and he was very close to his grandfather. Alec also had a father, Rivea, who was a Captain in the English navy. Rivea only returned to the family 3 times a year as long as any of the family remembered, but Alec didn’t miss his father too much since his father’s father, Leo, stood in as Alec’s father and the two were as close as close can be.

Alec was doing well at school and seemed to have everything going for him. He was clever but not nerdy and never had to try in class, he had plenty of friends and some very close ones, he also had many girls after him. He was happy with his lot in live, he only wished he could see his father more often but he had his mother and grandpa. Alec often enjoyed running. He was on both the sprint team and the long distance running team at his school and at the local sports centre and was well on his way to getting a sports scholarship.

One day Alec was out running alone, not training for anything but just running because he enjoyed it. It made him feel free as a bird and both his grandpa and mother encouraged this. Well, while he was out running he got a distraught call from his mother telling him his father’s ship had sunk and they could not find Rivea. This was the first real time Alec showed magic; he stopped and screamed and set a tree on fire in the middle of the countryside. From that point Alec feared himself and tried to distance himself from everyone, including his grandfather. This all happened at age 10 though less than a month before the letter, and the explosion of magic was so fierce because he had not been taught how to use the small out bursts he had experienced from around age 7.

One day when Alec was 11 he got a letter that he did not understand. A man who claimed to be a teacher told him about magic and a school. Arcturus's grandfather finally shared the secret that he too was a wizard and the two became even more close. In September of that year Arcturus began his magical training at Hogwarts. Leaving the muggle world he knew far behind. Alec never truly fit in at Hogwarts but nor does he feel like he fit in in the muggle world.

Arcturus Nightingale spent most of his time at Hogwarts wondering the castles most isolated places studying or running in the grounds. Running was Alec's favourite thing to do besides reading and learning; he was a true Ravenclaw, and he had learned that in his time at the school. All Alec wanted to do was fit in and now he was finally beginning to do so it was almost time for him to leave; although he had discussed with his head of house about gaining a temporary work experience post at the school, as a professor, which is the only thing he wanted to do with his life.

Alec stood in the middle of the dusty spare classroom that held only a few old desks. He let his imagination run wild and imagined himself as the teacher, of a strong methodological subject such as Arithmancy or Transfiguration; those were some of his best subjects.

As Alec paced the room like his professors he saw a discarded pencil and picked it up; it appeared to have been there for a long time; decades even. He wondered what stories it could hold. Alec liked imagination and history; even a pencil could hold such secrets; it could have belonged to 'he-who-must-not-be-named' when he was at school. He tried to imagine the most feared wizard as a student but he just couldn't.

Alec heard a creek of floorboards and closed his eyes for a second and imagined it was his own student in his class before turning round to see who had disrupted his daydreams.
