New Year, New Beginnings [OPEN]

Hermione wanted to go to King Cross' Station with her parents but they were busy for work. Both of her parents were Dentists and it was hard to keep up with their work. Hermione went alone instead. She didn't waited for anyone, not even Ron and Harry. She'd just catch up with them later.

Hermione walked through Platform 9 3/4, she came glanced around her surroundings. Every student, from 1st Year to 7th Year, has their parents with them. Hermione sighed and stepped on the train. She found an empty compartment since it was too early and she was already there. By her way, she noticed Malfoy and his gang. "Wonder what kept him early.." she thought. Hermione shrugged it off and fixed her things. She sat down, alone, in an empty compartment. She'll find Harry, Ron and Ginny later.

Hermione set Crookshanks out of her cage. Crookshanks sat beside her. Hermione leaned on the wall and look outside. The train haven't started to move yet, perhaps she is too early. "Sorry to keep you awake early Crookshanks. Thought we were late." she said as she turned to her orange, fluffy cat. Her cat meowed annoyingly at her as she chuckled and got back to her old position. She toyed with her Prefect Badge for a while and sighed,

"Looks like this is another year for another beginning."

[HARRY JAMES POTTER]

Harry made his way through the platform, making sure his luggage was safe on the train, he almost forgot hedwig's cage with it, but he remembered to grab it before getting on the train. On his way through, he saw a scene, Ginny weasley and Dean Thomas talking.

Dean had always said he was going to ask her out last year but he was too afraid of Ron's reaction, apparently he finally made up his mind and asked her out, maybe he won't shake every time she and Ron were around him at the same time. it was very embarrassing to see him like that, and he felt something inside him when he saw him with Ginny.

harry came to a stop when he saw Hermione admiring her badge in a compartment all alone, he opened the door and popped his head in,Congratulations prefect ! he came in and sat facing her, they separated when they came to king's cross from the burrow, but all the time they spent there she didn'tt ell him she made prefect, So ? How does it feel to wear that thing ?

he took a look at the door, making sure nobody was nearby, Where's Ron ? I think he won't be happy when he gets here, did you see Ginny outside ? with Dean ?

Hermione's head was still leant on the wall, she was being carried by her own fantasies. This was the first time she made Prefect, though.. it is a mystery why. She had always been a know-it-all but didn't get prefect last year since she is seen by the professors not only as the best of the class but also as one of Harry Potter's helpers on his troublesome attitude. Hermione had helped Harry and Ron since first year. Ron had irritated her then. She met Ginny when she was 2nd year. Ginny and Hermione had been friends since then.

Hermione sighed, then she heard Harry. She snapped out of her fantasies then jumped, "Harry! You almost gave me a heart attack!"

[/color] she said as she took a deep breath. She had heard Harry say something about prefect so she raised an eyebrow, "How did-"[/color] she didn't finished her sentence because she remembered that she had her prefect badge on. She never told anyone about it yet. She had spent most of her summer at the Burrow with the Weasleys but got home on the last week of summer, though.. she never told anyone about being a prefect. She thinks it dosen't matter. "Pretty good i guess. Hopefully Malfoy would get out of my way." she answered, offering a seat to Harry, hoping he would take it.

Harry asked her once again. This time about where the two Weasleys were and Ginny with Dean Thomas. Hermione raised her eyebrow, "I though you were with Ronald..." she thought to herself, probably mentally talking to Harry without letting him hear. Hermione let her eyebrow down and smiled sheepishly at Harry. It seemed that her advice to Ginny had been working. Hermione could hear the hint of jealousy in his voice. "Aren't you with them? I thought you stayed at the Burrow? And i didn't saw Ginny. I was here before you were. I arrived very early. But I know about the two of them..."[/color] she said questioningly and back at her old voice again. She didn't dare continue her sentence. It was for Ginny to say or for Harry to notice.[/blockquote]

[HARRY JAMES POTTER]

Yeah, though Harry didn't hear that much, he knew that's what people felt around him all the time. Putting on a large smile he nodded, yeah, I have that effect, heart attacks. He moved to sit next to her "Honestly hermione, I don't think he is getting out of anyone's way, he's prefect too, that means it won't be easy for any of us this year. All hopes are on you when it comes to Malfoy...you and Ron."

He gestured for her to keep her voice down and took another look at the door, What i'm saying is that she's out there now, with Dean and Ron will be here any second, and believe me he won't like what he'll see, remember how he reacted about Micheal Corner last year ? he almost had a heart attack ! a heart attack that I had nothing to do with.

Yeah, I was at the burrow, and... he stopped talking, Ginny's situation was getting the most of him for some unknown reason,"All i'm saying is, she shouldn't be talking to him right now, with her brother around, plus, Dean and her don't really fit together, not that I care but, you know what I mean right ?

Hermione sighed once again. Crookshanks had moved from her side to the other seat, in front of her, probably startled by Harry. Sometimes, Hermione thinks that maybe Crookshanks is too old to come with her to school but Crookshanks is stubborn, she wouldn't let Hermione leave without her. Hermione smiled at her fluffy, orange cat and listened to every word Harry said.

Harry sat beside her and spoke. She rolled her eyes and chuckled lightly when Harry said that he has the effect for the heart attacks but when Harry said that Malfoy was a Prefect, her eyes widened. "Malfoy? Is a... Prefect? I am not doing my patrols with him. No wonder he got here early. He was earlier than me. And what do you mean by me and Ronald?"

[/color] she asked, slightly frustrated about the Malfoy subject.

Hermione pipped her voice down a little but then raised an eyebrow. "There was no sense on pipping down if he would just close the door." she thought. Hermione figured he was too tied up with the Ginny, Dean and Ronald conversation so she stood up and closed the door. Once closed, she got back to her seat. "Harry, She's fifteen! How old are you when you kissed Cho Chang? Ginny is old enough to date and Ronald just have to deal with it. Ginny know loads of spells to cast on Ronald. And Ginny is a Weasley, Weasleys are Stubborn.. especially Ginny."[/color] she explained normally. "You have no idea how jealous your points are.." she thought.[/blockquote]

Harry shook hi head, still smiling, almost laughing at her answer, oh,you'll be making your rounds with someone else, don't ask who, it's a surprise. it's going to be quite a chock to you. He loved teasing hermione,knowing she couldn't handle such jokes.

He waited for her to sit back down after closing the door and waited for her to finish talking, would you forget about Cho already ?? Plus that's not even my point i didn't say she shouldn't date, i mean...I don't know, never mind..

He wanted to change the subject before that she start questioning his motives, better drop it and try to make her forget about all of it, Anyway, I have something to tell you, Dumbledore came to me a few weeks back, he took me with him to visit this man that used to be a professor. It was really odd. I wanted Ron to be here so I could tell you but.."But I just wanted to change the subject before you would know that I have a crush on Ginny" He thought to himself, what a pathetic thought, right ?

Hermione eyed Harry suspiciously. "What are you up to..." she thought darkly as she notice Crookshanks sleeping. "Harry, Seriously.. Stop joking around. It's still a possibility that The Head Boy and Girl would assign me with Malfoy. And besides, how'd you know? You're not even a Prefect."

[/color] she said, obviously annoyed. Hermione hated getting teased, it's practically nonsense. Hermione had been annoyed with Harry most of the time when they aren't solving a mystery. Sometimes, it's a wonder how Ginny fancied Harry. Some girls only fancy Harry because he was believed to be "The Chosen One"

Hermione rolled her eyes. She knew that Harry still haven't got over Cho Chang. Hermione never liked Cho, for her she was insecure. "Harry, i'm just poiting out my opinion. And you sounded like Ronald. With a hint of Jealousy I can say. Though, i don't like Dean Thomas that much. They've been fighting recently..."[/color] she said and stopped, not wanting to blow up Ginny's secret. "The whole reason why Ginny dated Thomas is because she wanted you to see her in a relationship" she thought. It was true though, Ginny told Hermione that it's the only reason why she did it.

Hermione noticed him, he was nervous. He quickly said something. Probably interesting. He wanted to change the subject. Hermione smirked, after what she said, no doubt that Harry would bring back the Ginny and Dean Thomas conversation. "Ronald is probably dozing off somewhere. You meant Professor Slughorn right? He taught your mother, I think. He was the Head of Slytherin and he has a club named The Slug Club."[/color]she explained but still suspicious about Harry's actions.[/blockquote]

Harry was enjoying her attitude, Hermione always took School duties too seriously, a matter that shouldn't be the bottom of any joke, "You have nothing to worry about, you're going to be assigned with the gryffindor prefect, the...male Gryffindor prefect...the redheaded gryffindor male prefect ? Any thoughts ? It wasn't much of a mystery. Ron was prefect too ! Maybe they'll stop their none sense and finally drop the act.

Not jealous, I just feel protective over her, I feel I have to look after her, Ron is my best friend, and...I don't know, can we NOT talk about this please ? Folded and thrown behind, hopefully, Hermione would drop the matter, he had to get many things on her mind, to avoid their conversation being spoken at ginny's ears.

He nodded at her words, it was weird how she knew so many things about everything. Not that he didn't get used it after all these years, Hermione has always been a know-it-all, but sometimes she knew things she shouldn't.

Yes, but that's not the odd part. When Dumbledore and I went to get him, he was living in a muggle house, and completely trashed. Apparently he did it on purpose to scare away any person that came close, But...he moved to get more comfortable,He kept going on and on about how proud he was of his students, even though it wasn't his house, he kept pictures of all of them there. He had mom's picture in one of his club parties, another with the Slytherin quidditch team, Sirius' brother was on it, he knew him well and many more. After that, Dumbledore was acting weird and for some reason, Slughorn changed his mind after talking...to me.

he paused and took in a deep breath as a set of footsteps passed by, when it faded away, he went on,When we left, Dumbledore said the oddest thing, that Slughorn will try to collect me, that i'll be his crown jewel or something, and I don't know what that means at all. Something doesn't sound right..

Hermione hadn't got the clue whoever is the Gryffindor 6th Year Male Prefect is. No one told her and she'll know later anyway. She heard that Pansy was the Slytherin 6th Year Female Prefect and just now, Harry said that Malfoy was the other 6th Year Prefect of Slytherin. The Head Boy and Girl haven't been meantioned yet but soon they'll be shown. "Gryffindor Prefect? Who-..Red Headed... Wait...RONALD?!?!?" she thought, she stiffened and looked confused. "Bu-bu-t.. How? H-he Can't be!" she thought once again then faced Harry. "You must be kidding....Ronald is too irresponsible to be Prefect!"

[/color] she said, almost shouted.

When Harry got back on his jealousy, Hermione laughed when he said or probably begged to not talk about it. "Harry, Gin's my best friend. And so are you. We both know that you are not brother material. You never cared for Ginny for years. After our second year, you never noticed her nor cared about whom she dated."[/color] Hermione pointed out, obviously NOT dropping the subject.

Hermione smirked a little, Harry might have thought that she would easily drop that but no she wouldn't. Hermione's too smart to do so. "Well.. Your mother has been a member of the Slug Club. I heard that only his favorite students are the ones he allows to join the club or join him and his other students during their "special dinner"."[/color] she explained but probably is still bothered about when he said that he would collect Harry. "Uh...Maybe he... uh... Maybe he thought that you're as good as your mother. But maybe you should ask Dumbledore whatever that means. He knows better."[/color] Hermione advised.[/blockquote]
