REGISTRATION
!DO register with your character like so: FIRST MIDDLE LAST,
in uppercase. for example: HARRY JAMES POTTER.
!DO check the 'current bans' board before making your character.
if there is a ban that states 'no more purebloods' and
you so happen to apply for one, your character will not
be accepted.
!DO fill out an application. you will have a week to finish. if you feel
as if you can't get your application up within the designated
time, pm an admin. i don't bite an extension will be granted,
based on the issue. please note that you will only be given
one extension, and in the case of popular canons, we
can't promise your character will be waiting when you come back.
!DON'T join as a werewolf, metamorphamagus, vampire, veela, seer
or any other 'special' character, without first posting a claim
in the 'special characters' board. if joining as a character who
is already known to have this ability (such as trewlany), you may
skip this step.
!DO remember that MIRROR OF ERISED takes place in Harry's 6th Year.
characters of the not so straight persuasion
are welcome, but given that homosexuality and bisexuality have
only recently become an accepted part of life (mostly, at least),
openly gay characters are likely to be few and far in between (and
not accepted by everyone).
!DON'T use playby's who are much older/younger than your character. anjolina
jolie should not be representing a 13 year old (unless you happen
to find pics of her when she was young. the point is, the playby
should 'look' like your character)
ONCE YOU'VE BEEN ACCEPTED
!DO post in the appropriate claims.
!DON'T create characters that you cannot handle, yes there is no limit. PM a Staff Member if you want to drop our a character or wait for an activity check. out of your characters only several
of them can be major canons and/or 'special' characters. have
an order character? why not try making a death eater character
next? though not exactly a rule, we encourage you to spread your
characters out
!DO make a separate account for each character. once you are a member
of our community, you can use the short app to apply (with the
exception of major, establish canons).
!DO upload an avatar and a signature. if you don't have any graphics skills, you
can always ask someone on such resource sites as CAUTION?, or post a
request in the 'GRAPHICS' board to see if anyone on site will be willing to help.
!DON'T don't stretch the board. all images posted should be of an appropriate
size. this is especially important for signatures. also, no
nudity and/or disturbing images in your signature. keep
it pg, alright?
CONDUCT
!DO respect others. in character fighting is cool. in fact, it's encouraged. out
of character fighting, not so much. this rule extends to old
members, new members, staff and guests. just be nice guys.
make posts not war.
!DO talk to the admins. if you have a problem with another member, let us
know. we'll mediate.
!DON'T overdo it with the swearing. having to read 'fuckity fuck fuck' ten
trillion times, either in character or out of character can get
pretty tiring. use your judgment. keep it classy. if in doubt,
use wizard swears! have fun making all sorts of obscenities
involving merlin and his pants.
!DO try to be active. activity checks will be held every month and your
character must be in at least one active roleplay to qualify. if
you think you're going to be away for an extended period of time,
or just feel that the site isn't for you anymore, please give us
a heads up and post in the absence thread.
!DON'T advertise in the c-box. that's what the ad section is for. the
c-box is for hanging, chatting, talking and general tomfoolery.
!DO keep roleplays somewhere around a pg-13 rating. sexual content is
expressively forbidden by proboards terms of service. i'm talking full,
blown out sex. sorry. no. if you must, then take it off site or put [R] in the title.
POSTING ETTIQUETTE
!DO use proper spelling and grammar at all times. when in doubt,
spell check. almost every computer has word, or some word
processing system. dictionary.com is also a good friend.
!DON'T powerplay or godmod. typing something like 'bill fired a stunning
spell at greg and knocked his socks off' is a no no.
!DO tag your posts. if you want to keep a thread between you and another
character, just mark [TAG: SO AND SO] in the title or topic
description. i would like to just say right now that the one thing i
want to encourage are open threads with more than two people. open
threads are open to all characters and no one should feel intimidated
about joining just because there's already another person there.
HOWEVER if the thread in question is on its second page, pm
the individuals involved and ask before joining.
!DON'T post one liners. there is 150-200+ word limit, however, ill-thought out posts of four or five sentances will not
be accepted.
MOST IMPORTANTLY
!DO DO DO DO DO have fun. plot. play. enjoy and don't be afraid to
tell me what i can do to make this site better, either by suggesting
your own plot arcs or by giving me tips on general site stuff. i'd
appreciate it, really.
